Down time

Well, this week has been really quiet. The models are suggesting a possible chase next week. Until then, all we can ask is that you donate to the American Red Cross to help victims of the tornado outbreak that killed more than 300 people last week. The link to donate is 2 posts below this, along with statistics and videos from that horrific outbreak.

April 26th 2011 Chase Log
Welp, day started out pretty good. We got on the first storm as the wall cloud was rotating near Waxahachie, Texas. This thing was rotating like no tomorrow. As the TIV blew past us, we decided to drop south to get out of the rain. As we did, the wall cloud passed over head, and produced several (although I’m not counting them) quick spin-ups in Ennis, Texas. We followed the storm east when we ran in to Kris Hair. We’ve been having data problems since about Ennis, and asked Kris if he could help us out. We followed Kris and pulled in to a min-gas station near Gun Barrel City. As we watched the wall cloud cross over the lake, it dropped a huge waterspout tornado on the lake. After it lifted/got rain wrapped we raced in to town to get a better view. We pulled in to what I think was a school/church parking lot, where I spotted a elephant trunk tornado as it roped out. After that it was severely rotating wall cloud after wall cloud after wall cloud. We decided to call it due to trees and it was getting late. We headed home with 2 tornado’s under out belts.

Deadly day in Oklahoma
Erik and I chased in south eastern Oklahoma yesterday. We pulled in to Tushka, Oklahoma after a very large wedge tornado went trough the town. We pulled up at a house that had been completely destroyed by the large tornado. Police and EMS workers were on the scene and asked if we would help in Search and Rescue. They had 2 people pulled out of the rubble, sadly 1 had died, the other was in critical condition. After about an hour of searching we came across the body of the missing person.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the people effected by yesterday strong storms.
